Drawing
The NRC-tekenaar Siegfried Woldhek gave an very good tip last interview show "De wereld draai door" how to draw, I was impressed with his advice, because I had already noticed the effect of it without knowing the cause.
First: just see what is in front of you, what you would like to draw, and without looking at your lines, just keep on drawing ... amazing was the difference of the drawing looking at your paper and without looking at it was far much better.
I have had never before this advice, but sometimes in a hurry I was drawing quickly in my sketch book, looking less to my lines than to the object.
Sometimes later I did remake it in a better quality paper, but often, the result was not good. I couldn't point why, now it becomes clear.
When our attention is into the object of the drawing, our mind is empty, and is only focused in what we see, like a child normally does, than our hands are an instrument of our attention, and that becomes later visible, but if instead we draw looking at the lines of our drawing, our focus is distracted with judgements and thoughts, that becomes also visible, the drawing express it as well, all the hesitations.
It gives us more confidence to draw knowing it.
Thank you Siegfried Woldhek.
